Summary

Marc Jacobs International is seeking a Director, Social Media to join the Marketing team at its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. This role will define the brand’s social storytelling and cultural relevance while building social-driven commerce and measurable growth across key platforms.

What you'll do

  • Identify emerging trends, creator movements, aesthetics, and cultural shifts and translate them into authentic brand storytelling.
  • Set editorial direction for social with a clear point of view, tone, and narrative arc beyond the standard content feed.
  • Ideate and execute cultural moments that drive organic attention and conversation while spotlighting product and brand.
  • Lead fast, high-impact content production across short-form video, lo-fi creator-style formats, reactive moments, and trend-based storytelling.
  • Perform hands-on creation responsibilities including editing, directing, and producing content.
  • Build and manage creator-led production pipelines and a lean ecosystem of creators, editors, videographers, and freelance talent.
  • Own cross-platform strategy across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts/Reels, Reddit, Substack, and emerging platforms.
  • Tailor creative by platform using knowledge of algorithms, native formats, and audience behavior.
  • Partner with E-commerce, CRM, and Media teams to drive awareness, traffic, conversion, retention, and community growth.
  • Define performance benchmarks, track KPIs, and continuously optimize creative and strategy.
  • Develop culturally credible creator and influencer partnerships and identify emerging talent early.
  • Build and lead a high-performance social team and establish workflows for speed, experimentation, and creative excellence.

Requirements

  • 7–12+ years of experience in social media leadership, digital content, editorial strategy, or cultural storytelling roles.
  • Proven experience leading social for a fashion, lifestyle, entertainment, or culturally driven brand.
  • Track record of creating or leading cultural moments, viral content, or conversation-driving campaigns.
  • Exceptional aesthetic sensibility and editorial judgment with deep understanding of internet culture and the creator economy.
  • Ability to translate cultural insights into brand-safe, culture-forward storytelling.
  • Hands-on short-form production experience (editing, directing, filming, and/or managing creator pipelines).
  • Strong understanding of social KPIs, platform analytics, and performance optimization tied to business outcomes (traffic, conversion, retention, community growth).
  • Experience leading teams and collaborating cross-functionally; strong communication skills to align creative ambition with business priorities.

Conditions

  • Location: Based in New York City (SoHo) headquarters.
  • Compensation: Salary range $180,000–$190,000 annually (offered based on skills and experience).
