Summary
The City of Racine is seeking a Marketing Coordinator to develop and execute marketing, outreach, and community engagement strategies for city programs, services, and events. The role supports the Communications Director and focuses on creative storytelling, digital media, and partnerships to increase awareness, participation, and resident satisfaction.
What you'll do
- Create, coordinate, and execute comprehensive marketing plans for City programs and events.
- Design and coordinate layout for social media posts, newsletters, flyers, brochures, and other informational materials.
- Maintain and update website content in alignment with City branding and voice.
- Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate citywide public events and campaigns in collaboration with all departments.
- Assist the Communications Director as a liaison between city departments and the public for communications and engagement efforts.
- Track and analyze effectiveness of marketing efforts and prepare reports for city leadership.
- Support city departments in developing promotional strategies for services, programs, and initiatives.
- Assist with public inquiries by providing timely and accurate information.
- Serve as a secondary point of contact for the department and provide administrative support to the Communications Director.
- Support crisis communications as needed.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience (preferred): 3 to 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or community engagement.
Skills:
- Strong leadership qualities and ability to coordinate multiple projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively engage the public.
- Basic photography, graphic design, video, and visual arts skills.
- Ability to create and post content to websites and social media.
- Knowledge of modern marketing tools, including digital and social media platforms.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to handle politically sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
Conditions
- Fully in-person role.
- May require evening and weekend hours as needed for events or public engagement activities.
- Work involves indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to heat/cold and occasional odors from cleaning products.
- Physical demands may include walking, sitting, standing, driving, lifting/carrying, bending/twisting, and working under stress.
- Equipment used may include standard office equipment, computers, phones, copy/fax machines, vehicles, and two-way radios.
