Bisnow, a leading B2B media platform in the commercial real estate industry, is hiring an East Coast Editor (Senior Editor level) to help lead its flagship daily newsletter, The First Draft. The role focuses on shaping daily news coverage with sharp analysis, original writing, and data-driven insights while managing a team of beat reporters.
What you'll do
Serve as an editor and content driver for The First Draft, Bisnow’s top-performing daily newsletter.
Write an anchor column (500+ words) at least twice a month featuring deep analysis and strong editorial voice using original insights, interviews, and/or overlooked data.
Manage, edit, and assign work to three East Coast-based beat reporters.
Edit approximately 14 stories per week, ranging from breaking news to enterprise investigations.
Source and integrate exclusive data and proprietary charts into the newsletter (target: at least two per week).
Curate and contextualize research and data from beyond CRE (e.g., logistics, consumption habits, global economic shifts) to inform coverage.
Identify and spotlight fast-rising CRE markets, property types, and sectors (target: at least one in-depth “rising opportunity” package per month).
Requirements
7+ years of journalism experience.
2+ years in a management or assigning editor role.
Strong working knowledge of commercial real estate and related sectors.
Proven ability to write/edit under very tight deadlines (minutes, not hours), ideally in a newsletter or daily news environment.
Background or training in data journalism (strongly preferred).
Ability to find and explain surprising insights from overlooked sources for a business audience.
Strong headline writing, structural editing, and a clean, engaging writing style.
