Summary

The Strategic Account Specialist drives regional business impact by engaging highest-value GI accounts, expanding pull-through in priority accounts, and supporting field capability through training and development.

What you'll do

  • Achieve and exceed regional sales objectives by engaging highest-value gastroenterology customers in collaboration with multiple Territory Sales Representatives.
  • Maintain advanced product and disease-state expertise to conduct in-depth clinical discussions with gastroenterologists, advanced practice providers, and office staff; address clinical questions and objections.
  • Assess regional market dynamics, access opportunities, and competitive trends; align strategy with field partners to accelerate pull-through.
  • Operate effectively in an overlay model across multiple territories to enhance coverage, increase prescribing depth, and ensure coordinated execution in priority accounts.
  • Serve as a regional trainer by supporting new-hire onboarding, field skill development, and facilitating workshops/capability sessions at regional and national meetings.
  • Partner with the Regional Sales Manager on strategic business planning and alignment of overlay priorities with territory and regional goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Training, Sales Operations, and other commercial partners to share best practices and drive operational excellence.
  • Complete administrative and operational responsibilities, including CRM usage, expense management, and adherence to company/regulatory compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience (external candidates); internal candidates with exceptional performance may be considered with fewer years.

  • Performance: Documented, consistent achievement of sales objectives with formal recognition (e.g., awards, top rankings, President’s Club or equivalent).

  • Product launch: Demonstrated success launching new products and driving adoption in competitive markets.

  • Business/analytics: Advanced analytical and business acumen to interpret market dynamics and apply insights to strategy.

  • Customer engagement: Ability to build and sustain professional relationships with GI physicians, advanced practice providers, and office staff in live and virtual settings.

  • Tools: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and digital platforms such as Veeva Engage, Teams, and Zoom.

  • Work style: Adaptable and effective in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

  • Travel: Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and ability to travel extensively (including overnights) and attend national/regional/corporate meetings.

  • Preferred: Experience succeeding in an overlay model; experience as peer mentor/field trainer/facilitator with strong presentation skills; GI specialty (or other specialty) sales experience.

Conditions

  • Location/territory coverage: Regional role covering Bowling Green, Lexington, and Elizabethtown; cross-territory responsibility beyond a traditional Territory Sales Representative.

  • Travel: Extensive regional travel with overnights; attendance at national, regional, and corporate meetings as required.
