Digital Creative Associate
Summary
The New York State Executive Chamber is hiring a Digital Creative Associate (Content Associate) to join its Digital-Creative Team, which shapes the administration’s digital voice across social, email, SMS, and web platforms. Reporting to the Director of Digital Strategy, the role supports and helps manage Governor Kathy Hochul’s digital presence by translating policy into engaging, accessible content.
What you'll do
- Manage daily social media plans and produce daily content across the Governor’s digital platforms.
- Draft long-form email newsletters and SMS alerts for key administration initiatives.
- Monitor daily news and create engaging rapid-response content.
- Assist with developing and maintaining weekly and monthly editorial calendars.
- Participate in a rotating on-call system for off-hours and weekend content posting.
- Collaborate with senior digital and communications staff to translate complex policy into compelling online content.
- Prepare and distribute digital toolkits and propose creative amplification ideas for policy priorities.
- Participate in brainstorming to develop creative concepts promoting the Governor’s priorities.
- Travel with the Governor to capture high-quality smartphone video and prepare assets for immediate distribution.
- Coordinate on-site to scout visuals, conduct constituent testimonials, and capture candid moments showing real-world policy impact.
- Staff the Governor during on-the-go recordings, ensuring optimal positioning, lighting, and message delivery.
Requirements
Experience: 1–3+ years in digital communications, social media management, or content creation (preferred in political, government, advocacy, or similarly fast-paced environments).
Exceptional writing and communications skills, especially writing for social media.
Familiarity with platform nuances, trends, and best practices for Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook, TikTok, and emerging platforms.
Experience and/or comfort directing and staffing a high-profile principal (e.g., elected official or executive) during shoots and events.
Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple rapid-response priorities.
Portfolio of recent creative content ideas (professional or personal work).
Basic familiarity with content tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, and/or comparable graphic design and video editing software.
Conditions
- Travel: Willingness to travel statewide.
- Schedule: Rotating on-call shifts including nights, weekends, and off-hours posting.
- Compensation: Salary band $62,000–$75,000 annually depending on experience.
