Summary
The City of Racine is hiring a Marketing Coordinator to develop and execute marketing, outreach, and community engagement strategies for city programs, services, and events. Reporting to the Communication Director, the role promotes citywide initiatives through storytelling, digital media, partnerships, and performance tracking to increase awareness and participation.
What you'll do
- Create, coordinate, and execute comprehensive marketing plans for City programs and events
- Design and coordinate layouts for social media posts, newsletters, flyers, brochures, and other informational materials
- Maintain and update website content to align with City branding and voice
- Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate public events and citywide campaigns in collaboration with all departments
- Assist the Communications Director as a liaison between city departments and the public for communications and engagement
- Track and analyze marketing effectiveness and prepare reports for city leadership
- Support departments in developing promotional strategies for services, programs, and initiatives
- Assist with public inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate information
- Serve as support to the Communications Director and as a secondary point of contact for the department
- Support crisis communications as needed
- Assist with administrative tasks related to communications/marketing operations
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience (preferred): 3–5 years in marketing, communications, or community engagement
- Strong leadership and ability to coordinate multiple projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively engage the public
- Basic skills in photography, graphic design, video, and visual arts
- Ability to create and post content to websites and social media
- Knowledge of modern marketing tools, including digital and social media platforms
- Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and external partners
- Strong organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
- Ability to handle politically sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
- Maintain a consistent and reliable attendance record
Conditions
- Work mode: Fully in-person
- Schedule: May require evening and weekend hours for events or public engagement activities
- Physical demands: Walking, sitting, standing, lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, writing, driving, bending/twisting; ability to withstand heat/cold in various environments with the public
- Environment: Mix of air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned areas; indoor and outdoor exposure; possible exposure to odors from cleaning products
