Intern (Digital Studios)

Summary

PBS Digital Studios (PBSDS) creates original online series and content strategies across YouTube, social media, podcasts, and PBS-owned platforms to support PBS’s mission and reach audiences where they are. The Digital Studios Intern supports day-to-day editorial, operations, and audience development activities for PBSDS shows and channels. The internship includes a capstone where the intern pitches a digital series idea to the team.

What you'll do

  • Review and provide input on show pitches, social video scripts, and YouTube episode scripts.
  • Support migration of the Airtable tracking system by updating files, titles, links, tags, and related metadata.
  • Brainstorm and create engaging posts/videos for PBS Digital Studios social media accounts.
  • Create content for the YouTube Community tab (e.g., memes, polls, graphics).
  • Support partnerships between PBSDS shows and network-wide initiatives, including broadcast tie-ins and new show launches.
  • Write engaging one-pagers about upcoming series for Communications teams.
  • Maintain and update project files and YouTube channel graphics (banners, logos, etc.).
  • Gather YouTube and social media analytics for reporting and to identify performance trends that inform digital strategy.
  • Support creation of YouTube thumbnails and provide input on video titles and packaging to improve performance.
  • Assist with audits related to the digital media landscape and/or content performance.
  • Contribute as a flexible team player on creative projects and other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience working with a digital team at a media organization or nationally recognized brand(s).
  • Project management experience and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong writing and effective communication skills.
  • Experience producing or editing educational or fact-based digital videos for YouTube, social media, or other platforms.
  • Knowledge of YouTube and interest in building and engaging audiences.
  • Interest in learning about data, analytics, and growth metrics.
  • Experience with editing/design tools such as Canva, Adobe Premiere, and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Plus:

    • Experience with science or educational content.
    • Familiarity with PBS Digital Studios programming.

Conditions

  • Temporary, part-time, non-exempt internship.
  • Time commitment: June 1, 2026 – August 21, 2026.
  • Compensation: $15/hour (undergraduate) or $17/hour (graduate).
