Summary
Book of the Month is hiring a Social Media Manager to lead all aspects of its social media program. The role blends content strategy and community building to grow the business while elevating brand presence across major and emerging platforms.
What you'll do
- Develop and iterate a social strategy tied to clear business objectives and content tests
- Own and manage the social media editorial calendar across platforms
- Concept, create, and publish platform-native content for TikTok, Instagram (Reels/Stories/Feed/Threads), YouTube Shorts, and emerging channels
- Monitor culture and platform trends and translate insights into on-brand content
- Brief content creators and internal designers to produce content that drives attention and engagement metrics
- Capture content personally (behind and/or on camera) as needed
- Write engaging captions aligned to BOTM’s brand voice and point of view
- Align social content with upcoming campaigns and book releases to translate core messaging across channels
- Present monthly performance reports with insights and actionable recommendations
- Lead daily community engagement across comments, tags, hashtags, and paid social comments
- Foster thoughtful, brand-aligned audience conversations to humanize the brand
- Identify, celebrate, and reshare standout user-generated and influencer content
- Create initiatives to deepen community participation and strengthen brand affinity
- Plan and execute co-branded and BOTM-led giveaways, challenges, and community moments
- Partner with the paid social team on UGC and influencer collaborations to drive reach and engagement
- Represent BOTM at industry events and capture behind-the-scenes content and brand moments
Requirements
- Highly creative with the ability to pitch, refine, and execute original ideas
- Deep knowledge of platform nuances and audience behavior across major social channels
- Strong communication skills with a confident point of view and sharp sense of humor
- Ability to adapt creative approach to maintain a distinct, consistent brand voice
- Exceptional taste and editorial eye for content and aesthetics that resonate with the target audience
- Ability to analyze content performance and recommend improvements
- Skill in generating insights and translating them into creative concepts and content ideas
- Collaborative mindset and comfort working with creatives to achieve business goals
- Strong engagement with internet culture, creator ecosystems, and books
- Willingness to take thoughtful creative risks to elevate the brand
- Interest in eCommerce, direct-to-consumer, and/or the book business
- Strong organization and time management
Conditions
Salary range: $90,000–$130,000 per year (converted to an estimated monthly midpoint).
