Summary
San Diego FC, the newest member of the MLS family, is building a San Diego-centric soccer organization through the Right to Dream model and the Sycuan Tribe partnership. The Editor / Producer will produce and edit high-quality video content to support the club’s storytelling, brand initiatives, and business objectives across digital platforms. This role blends editorial storytelling with advanced post-production and scalable motion graphics systems to deliver consistent, platform-ready content.
What you'll do
- Produce and edit long-form, short-form, and promotional videos for San Diego FC’s official channels, shaping narratives for digital-first audiences.
- Manage storytelling and editorial quality to ensure clarity, concision, and alignment with platform standards.
- Conceptualize and execute story-focused edits for distribution across club platforms and broader channels as needed.
- Provide match-day editing support, including media intake and creation of select highlights and time-sensitive creative pieces.
- Support home and away match production needs and assist the broader production team during live events.
- Develop and maintain motion graphics systems and editing templates to improve workflow efficiency and brand consistency.
- Create scalable graphics/template solutions for digital advertising, applying platform-specific best practices and efficient versioning for paid campaigns.
- Ensure deliverables meet technical specifications and post-production standards for each platform.
- Collaborate with the Video Production Manager and Content & Creative team on ideation, revisions, and execution.
- Maintain organized post-production workflows, media intake practices, file naming, storage, and archival systems for the media library.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Football Operations, Communications, Marketing/Partnerships) for access, scheduling, and integrated campaign support.
- Contribute to team culture by sharing knowledge, staying current on trends/tools, and elevating creative/technical standards.
Requirements
Portfolio: Must provide a link to a portfolio of video work in the application.
- 3+ years of experience in a video editing role (preferably in sports).
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve.
- Proficiency with the broader Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong motion graphics fundamentals and ability to build templates/systems.
- Proficiency in audio mixing/mastering and color correction/grading.
- Ability to take complex stories and tell them concisely to fans; strong post-production storytelling skills.
- Knowledge of media management systems and best practices for organizing a growing media library.
- Experience with digital/social editing and traditional channels.
- Understanding of digital advertising specs and platform formatting standards.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work productively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Plus: Sports experience; knowledge of cine cameras and field production workflows.
