Security Officer (Day Shift)
Summary
San Diego Padres is hiring a full-time Security Officer (Day Shift) to help ensure a safe environment for guests and employees at Petco Park. The role focuses on patrol, incident response, surveillance monitoring, and detailed reporting while representing the Club professionally.
What you'll do
Patrol ballpark property and provide friendly, professional security for employees, partners, visitors, vendors, and guests.
Respond to safety and criminal incidents, take action per training/policy, and coordinate with emergency services when needed.
Conduct internal investigations and produce detailed, objective reports for shifts and incidents.
Inspect vehicles entering the loading dock, verify deliveries against schedules, check driver IDs, and log deliveries.
Monitor and operate CCTV surveillance, access control, and fire alarm systems.
Attend briefings, track event activities, and confirm load-in/load-out status.
Act as a first responder to alarms, medical calls, and property damage incidents.
Maintain confidentiality on sensitive issues.
Maintain accurate notes, logs, pass-on information, and complete incident/repair documentation clearly and on time.
Greet clients, employees, guests, and vendors professionally and follow established Ballpark Security protocols.
Collaborate with other departments to support positive publicity and represent the Club professionally.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance.

Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact professionally with all levels and the public; use initiative and independent judgment within guidelines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); report-writing experience.
Experience with Motorola Solutions Avigilon CCTV system is a plus.
Criminal justice coursework or recognized security training is a plus.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Valid driver’s license with good driving record (subject to review).
BSIS Proprietary Security Guard certification or BSIS Guard Card, or ability to obtain within first 30 days.
Law enforcement/public safety or military experience is a plus.
Experience in large public assemblies or event facilities is highly desirable.
Conditions
Status: Full-time, non-exempt.
Shift: Day shift.
Schedule: Five flexible 8-hour shifts per week (Saturday–Friday), scheduled anytime between 5:00 AM and 9:30 PM; weekly schedules vary based on operational needs, games, and special events.
Overtime: Must be available for overtime, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Compensation: $21.14/hour (California pay transparency notice).
