Summary
Roku is a leading TV streaming platform aiming to power every television by connecting consumers, publishers, and advertisers across the streaming ecosystem. The Data Scientist on the Core Analytics team will support Customer Intelligence by translating customer behavior into decision-ready insights that shape engagement, retention, and monetization strategy.
What you'll do
Own end-to-end analyses: scope questions, define success metrics, pull data, analyze, synthesize, and deliver data-driven narratives.
Drive stakeholder alignment by clarifying objectives, assumptions, tradeoffs, and decision points to ensure outputs are actionable.
Create executive-ready storytelling and presentations (slides, memos) with clear implications and recommendations.
Develop and review SQL/Python workflows to create datasets, compute KPIs, and validate results; use Airflow to maintain/build pipelines as needed.
Build reporting in Tableau/Looker, including dashboards and recurring scorecards to reduce ad-hoc requests.
Apply measurement and causal approaches (e.g., diff-in-diff, propensity matching, synthetic controls) to answer incrementality questions with appropriate caveats.
Raise analytical quality through statistical rigor, bias awareness, and clear articulation of limitations.
Requirements
3+ years (or equivalent) in analytics/data science roles driving business decisions.
Strong SQL skills (joins, window functions, building analysis-ready tables, QA/validation).
Python proficiency for analysis and data pipeline production (via Airflow).
Hands-on experience with Tableau or Looker for visualization and reporting.
Proficiency in Excel for working with data, tables, and visualization.
Strong communication skills: structured thinking, clear writing, and presenting to non-technical and executive audiences.
Solid statistics foundation (hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regression basics).
Familiarity with causal inference/experimentation; deeper specialization is a plus but not required.
Conditions
Hybrid schedule: in-office Monday through Thursday; Fridays flexible for remote work (role-dependent policies may vary).
Based in New York City.
