Data Collector

Rutgers University is seeking a Data Collector for the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER). The role supports research studies by coordinating and conducting classroom-based assessments/observations, ensuring accurate data handling, and reporting progress to project coordinators.

• Schedule data collection appointments with child care programs, preschools, and schools and maintain ongoing communication to facilitate visits.
• Complete reliability requirements for project-specific assessments and classroom observations.
• Administer assessments and classroom observations in designated classrooms as trained.
• Monitor daily participation completion and follow-up surveys.
• Conduct semi-structured interviews with teachers as needed.
• Provide daily reports on completed work and weekly reports of completed assessments to Project Coordinator(s).
• Return completed assessments to NIEER on a weekly basis.
• Ensure accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of data and adhere to study protocols.
• Perform data entry and assist with data cleaning as trained by coordinators.
• Support recruitment, screening, and scheduling of participants for study visits.
• Assist coordinators with project management tasks related to data collection.
• Handle special projects based on demonstrated knowledge and job skills.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree with a focus/major in child development, early childhood, psychology, or a related field.

• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate early childhood teaching practices.
• Experience in classroom settings and/or working with children.
• Ability to write, speak, and read Spanish.
• Experience working with Hispanic communities.

Work involves travel/visits to child care programs, preschools, and schools for on-site data collection, with ongoing reporting to project coordinators. Employer is Rutgers University (NIEER).
