Summary
American Airlines is hiring a part-time Customer Service Agent to support airport customer-facing operations. The role focuses on delivering professional service across ticketing, check-in, gate/boarding, and baggage processes while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do
- Issue, reissue, and refund passenger tickets; book, ticket, confirm, and rebook flight reservations (including oversales and irregular operations)
- Perform passenger check-in and seat assignments (except curbside), resolve oversold seat assignments, and issue upgrades
- Support passenger accommodations by issuing vouchers and coordinating hotels, meals, and transportation when needed
- Conduct boarding activities including ticket/boarding pass verification; operate gate readers/scanners; monitor carry-on baggage and exit-row criteria
- Operate jetways/bridges for boarding and deplaning; make boarding and departure announcements
- Deliver flight documents (domestic/international) and complete flight close-out procedures
- Accept, check, and tag baggage at resolution centers and ticket counters; process credit card baggage transactions
- Assist customers with self-service kiosk check-in and kiosk baggage processing; manage and queue ticket counter lines
- Verify/clear international documents at kiosks and activation stations; accept and activate self-tagged bags
- Assist customers needing special assistance, including non-ambulatory passengers and unaccompanied minors
- Maintain timelines for the boarding process; provide connecting passengers with gate information
- Respond and assist during security and/or emergency situations
- Complete job-relevant training, use multiple internal systems/resources, and adhere to company policies, performance standards, and government regulations
- Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance, including mandatory overtime when required; wear uniforms per policy
- Depending on airport size: perform Passenger Operation Control functions (air-to-ground communication and tower functions) and assist international passengers through customs/immigration including baggage recheck
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Valid driver’s license as required by local authorities
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, comprehensive background check, and/or fingerprinting
- Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks for unescorted access privileges (SIDA) if applicable
- Ability to obtain required airport authority and/or U.S. Customs security badges if applicable
- Bilingual language skills required in some locations
- Preferred: working knowledge of Sabre or another Passenger Service System (PSS)
- Preferred: previous face-to-face customer service experience
- Preferred: experience working in a fast-paced environment
Conditions
- Part-time role with regular and predictable on-site attendance; mandatory overtime may be required
- Starting pay: $21.25 per hour
