Summary
Macy’s is seeking a Specialist, Customer Portfolio/Consumer Insights to serve as a consultative research partner across teams such as Marketing, Merchandising, Digital Experience, and Innovation. The role leads quantitative and qualitative research to bring the voice of the customer into business decisions and drive strategic, actionable recommendations.
What you'll do
- Independently lead the development and execution of internal research projects.
- Manage end-to-end research activities including project management, data analysis, competitive analysis, synthesis of findings, and insight storytelling.
- Partner with stakeholders to diagnose business challenges and deliver actionable recommendations.
- Translate customer data and insights into clear, concise narratives and cohesive customer stories.
- Present research findings to key stakeholders and senior leaders.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships across Strategy, Merchandising, Analytics, Customer Experience, and User Experience.
- Design forward-looking research that challenges assumptions and identifies growth opportunities.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect to strengthen relationships and authentic connections.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Experience: 3–5 years of market research experience at a retailer, consumer brand, or supplier-side market research firm.
Consumer insights & storytelling: Ability to analyze and synthesize complex consumer data into actionable narratives for senior stakeholders.
Strategic research design: Ability to design proactive, forward-looking research that challenges assumptions.
Research project management: End-to-end leadership of research initiatives including competitive analysis and custom quantitative/qualitative studies.
Methods: Quantitative (e.g., conjoint, segmentation, regression) and qualitative (e.g., focus groups, ethnographies) expertise.
Technical: Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Office (advanced Excel, PowerPoint); experience with tools such as Qualtrics, Alida, SPSS, Tableau, and Power BI; familiarity with Google BigQuery and Python preferred.
Other: Ability to work sitting for extended periods and to work a flexible schedule as needed.
