Police Records Clerk
Summary
The City of Pearland, TX Police Department is hiring a full-time Police Records Clerk to support day-to-day records operations. The role focuses on accurate record entry, retrieval, validation, and customer-facing records requests to support department functions and prosecution needs.
What you'll do
Enter, code, update, and retrieve offense and accident report information in multiple computer systems.
Search and retrieve information from files, computer records, and documents in response to requests.
Release information and documents in compliance with the Public Information Act and applicable laws and procedures.
Sort, review, and screen police reports for completeness before forwarding to the district attorney, defendants, victims, and other agencies.
Maintain logs and records controls to track case files; process offense/accident requests and collect deposit fees.
Prepare TCIC/NCIC validations and maintain accurate accounts of reports.
Answer incoming non-emergency and records-division phone calls and respond to information requests about records and department policies.
Prepare prosecution packets as appropriate and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
1 to 3 months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to pass a criminal history check and polygraph testing.
Valid Texas driver’s license.
NCIC/TCIC certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Preferred: knowledge of law enforcement functions; municipal government and ordinances; Texas Penal Code and records-related laws and regulations.
Preferred: Microsoft Office and Outlook skills; scanning, filing, organization; ability to run multiple software applications.
Preferred: customer service skills (including assisting citizens with Crywolf permit accounts) and bilingual English/Spanish.
Preferred certifications: State of Texas Notary; CPR.
Conditions
Full-time position.
Schedule includes weekdays and may include evenings, nights, weekends, overtime, and emergency work.
Typical hours listed: Monday to Friday (8:00am–5:00pm or 7:00am–5:00pm).
Pay range: $17.96–$21.07 per hour (based on qualifications).
