Security Officer (Night Shift)

The San Diego Padres are hiring a full-time, non-exempt Security Officer (Night Shift) to help maintain a safe environment for guests, employees, and partners at Petco Park. The role focuses on overnight patrol, monitoring security systems, and responding to incidents while supporting ballpark operations during events and special activities.

• Patrol ballpark property and provide friendly, professional security presence for employees, partners, and visitors.

• Respond to safety and criminal incidents, take appropriate action per training and policy, and coordinate with emergency services when needed.

• Conduct internal investigations and produce detailed, objective shift and incident reports.

• Inspect vehicles entering the loading dock, verify deliveries against schedules, check driver identification, and log deliveries.

• Monitor and operate CCTV, access control, and fire alarm systems.

• Attend briefings and track event load-ins and load-outs.

• Act as first responder to alarms, medical calls, and property damage incidents.

• Maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters.

• Maintain accurate notes and logs; ensure pass-on information is communicated to the next shift.

• Complete activity logs, incident reports, repair forms, and related documentation clearly and on time.

• Greet clients, employees, guests, and vendors professionally.

• Follow established ballpark security protocols and procedures.

• Collaborate with other departments to support positive publicity and represent the Club professionally.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel and the public; ability to use initiative and independent judgment within guidelines.

• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

• Report writing experience; familiarity with Motorola Solutions Avigilon CCTV is a plus (not required).

• Experience in large event/public assembly facilities is a plus (not required).

• Criminal justice coursework or recognized security training is a plus (not required).

• Law enforcement/public safety and/or military experience is a plus (not required).

• Fluently bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

• Valid current driver’s license with good driving record (subject to review).

• BSIS Proprietary Security Guard certification or BSIS Guard Card (or ability to obtain within first 30 days).

• Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment requirements including a background check.

• Full-time; non-exempt.

• Schedule: five 8-hour flexible shifts per week (Saturday–Friday), typically scheduled between 9:00 PM and 5:30 AM; weekly schedules vary based on operational needs, games, and special events.

• Overtime may be required, including weekends and holidays.
