Biologist | $70/hr Remote

Crossing Hurdles is hiring a Biology PhD Expert on an hourly contract to help create and improve biology-focused prompts and high-quality reference answers for AI systems. The role supports evaluation and supervised fine-tuning efforts by ensuring responses are scientifically accurate, clear, and appropriately challenging.

• Author and review prompts and ideal responses across core biological subfields
• Provide detailed and accurate answers for synthesis, summarization, and open/closed Q&A prompts
• Review and refine model-generated responses to improve accuracy and clarity
• Identify prompt structures that effectively challenge state-of-the-art AI models
• Adjust tone and structure to align with different system personas (e.g., expert vs. generalist)
• Contribute to long-term supervised fine-tuning dataset development initiatives

• PhD in Biology or a closely related life science discipline
• Deep expertise in one or more subfields (e.g., molecular biology, evolutionary biology, neurobiology)
• Strong written communication skills with high attention to scientific accuracy
• Preferred: prior experience writing or editing instructional or scientific content
• Plus (not required): familiarity with AI or large language models
