Data Scientist

Summary

Valkyrie is an applied science firm building custom AI and Machine Learning solutions for commercial and government clients. As a Data Scientist, you will conduct exploratory data analysis, build visualizations, engineer features for models, and evaluate novel data sources while collaborating with senior team members on investigations using emerging tools and frameworks.

What you'll do

Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and data cleaning; Build visualizations to communicate project results; Engineer data features for statistical and machine learning models; Identify and evaluate novel data sources; Support data analysis, modeling, and experimentation; Collaborate with senior team members on investigations using emerging tools and frameworks; Assist in preparation and delivery of documentation, proposals, presentations, and structured working sessions to technical and non-technical audiences

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in STEM or related field; 1+ years professional experience in a scientific role or 2+ science/engineering focused internships; 1+ year Python experience in professional role or 3+ years in academic setting; Experience with Scikit-Learn and Pandas; Familiarity with various database structures (SQL, MongoDB, Neo4j, Google BigTable); Experience with Python data visualization packages (Seaborn, Plotly, Matplotlib); At least 1 Data Science, AI, and/or ML course completed; Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; Like-to-haves: SQL experience (1+ years), Cloud Computing (AWS, Azure, GCP), Software Engineering courses
