Adult Education Program Assistant
Summary
Denver Botanic Gardens is seeking an On Call Adult Education Program Assistant within the Education Department. The role supports and facilitates high-quality adult education programs that emphasize the plant-people connection across in-person and online formats.
What you'll do
Implement assigned adult education programs and serve as an on-site contact, troubleshooting and problem-solving as needed.
Greet students and create a welcoming, positive class experience.
Set up, arrange, and take down equipment, signage, and materials before and after classes and programs.
Operate and manage audiovisual software and hardware for classroom and online delivery; troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with IT as needed.
Assist with hosting, monitoring, and recording online class content.
Communicate consistently with the team, instructors, volunteers, staff, and the public regarding programs and updates.
Maintain accurate records (e.g., attendance, confirmations, program details).
Support and help lead volunteers through information-sharing and ongoing communication.
Follow departmental guidelines and policies; escalate challenges or ambiguities to management/program staff.
Organize and complete assigned projects by deadlines; notify coworkers of disruptions or risks.
Maintain general knowledge of Adult Education offerings (including School of Botanical Art and Illustration) and represent programs during class.
Support Education staff in identifying, arranging, and delivering high-quality programs and visitor experiences.
Requirements
High school diploma/GED and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred: minimum 1 year relevant experience (e.g., classroom settings, distance learning, video editing, or online content management).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to speak effectively to groups.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Comfort with audiovisual tools and technology; ability to troubleshoot and coordinate with IT.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Flexibility, high energy, and ability to remain stable under pressure and in stressful situations.
Ability to be on your feet/move and communicate for extended periods.
Commitment to safe work practices and representing the Gardens positively internally and externally.
Conditions
On-call position.
Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays; overtime as necessary.
Work locations may include York Street, Chatfield Farms, and Plains Conservation Center.
Up to 25% travel required, including travel to remote or varying environments.
Regular on-site attendance may be required; remote work may be available at management discretion and requires good performance standing.
