Staff Data Analyst (Remote)

Weedmaps is a global cannabis-industry platform focused on transparency, education, and community. The Staff Data Analyst will partner with senior leaders to turn business objectives into scalable data products and strategic insights that drive high-impact decisions. This role blends hands-on analytics execution with executive influence, including leading a Tableau migration and building dashboards used to run the business.

• Create high-quality, scalable analytics and data products, dashboards, and reports (including Streamlit outputs).
• Partner with executives across Product, Marketing, Revenue, and other teams as a data strategist and trusted thought partner.
• Lead the migration from Tableau to a new BI solution with minimal disruption.
• Design and build executive dashboards for weekly operational metrics, board-level KPIs, and strategic planning.
• Publish external thought leadership on cannabis market trends in collaboration with the content team.
• Define, build, and document new metrics in dbt and Snowflake to meet business requirements.
• Translate ambiguous business requests into actionable plans for multiple analysts to execute.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Convert SQL queries into repeatable, performant dbt Cloud models independently.
• Mentor analysts via code reviews, pair programming, and architectural guidance; set standards for data quality and analytical rigor.

• 8+ years in data analytics, product analytics, or business intelligence with demonstrated influence on executive decision-making through data storytelling and strategic recommendations.
• Expert SQL skills; experience analyzing large, messy user-level datasets (including extremely large row counts) and deriving actionable insights.
• Deep understanding of advanced analytics and data visualization.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining production dashboards in BI tools (e.g., Looker, Sigma).
• Solid understanding of dbt Cloud; experience defining/documenting metrics and working with Snowflake.
• Experience collaborating with senior leadership across multiple business functions.
• Strong ability to proactively identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and build business cases.
• Hands-on experience with version control platforms and processes.
• Familiarity with Python and Streamlit.
• Experience using AI tools in analytics work to increase impact.

Bonus:

• Experience with multiple BI platforms (preferably Sigma) and leading BI platform migrations.
• Experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments balancing scrappiness with scalability.
• Experience presenting to C-suite audiences and/or publishing external thought leadership.
• Strong Python skills.
• Experience in a two-sided marketplace or e-commerce; knowledge of the cannabis industry.
