Business Analyst, Finance Analytics
Summary
Rover is a pet care marketplace company connecting pet parents with trusted sitters and dog walkers across the US, Canada, and Europe. The Business Analyst, Finance Analytics role is responsible for decomposing and narrating financial metrics to influence business outcomes and strategic priorities. You will partner with Finance, Product Analytics, Accounting, Tax, and Product teams to deliver insights, improve reporting, and support decision-making.
What you'll do
Become a subject matter expert on database queries related to payments and finance tables, cohort modeling, and integrated third-party vendor data.
Monitor existing metrics and build new metrics that drive business impact.
Present trends, insights, metric driver decomposition, and recommendations to senior leadership and the broader finance organization.
Provide leverage to finance, accounting, and tax teams through insights, narratives, and increased automation/simplification.
Partner cross-functionally to investigate metric fluctuations, identify root causes, and find solutions for changes impacting Finance (e.g., experiments, new business lines, regulatory changes).
Support teammates and cross-functional partners as needed with a flexible, collaborative approach.
Requirements
3+ years of business experience in Analytics.
Familiarity with finance and accounting principles, including financial statements.
Experience in data-informed decision-making and partnering with multi-functional teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to construct clear data narratives for technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
Fluency with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) to independently conduct root cause analyses.
Experience working with data infrastructure/engineering teams to build and optimize data models.
Nice to have: experience in a two-sided marketplace.
Nice to have: familiarity with Python, R, or a similar computational language.
Conditions
Hybrid role with a minimum expectation of working from the Downtown Seattle office two days per week (Mondays and Thursdays).
Must be based in the Greater Seattle Area or willing to relocate.
