Payment Operations Specialist - Entry Level
Summary
Integrated Finance & Accounting Solutions (IFAS) is hiring an entry-level Payment Operations Specialist to support global disbursing operations. The role runs daily payment processing and resolves payment issues across EFT and check payments to ensure accurate, compliant disbursements.
What you'll do
Provide customer support on payment-related inquiries to CGFS colleagues, overseas posts, and other agencies.
Run the daily payment job stream in the automated disbursing system to generate daily EFT payment files.
Prepare check payments including printing, sorting, distributing, and logging.
Coordinate special handling requests for check payment files.
Prepare mailing envelopes for posts.
Research and resolve payment issues with the mailroom, posts, and/or banks.
Process transactions to record cancellations of EFT payments and bank account debits/credits.
Research and resolve non-payment and under/over-payment issues.
Research and respond to inquiries regarding payment compliance screening.
Perform other duties within the Office of International Disbursing as assigned.
Requirements
Two-year degree with coursework in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Accounting, or related field.
Two years of relevant work experience involving bookkeeping, data entry, or accounting procedures.
Knowledge of standardized bookkeeping/accounting procedures and techniques used in a banking or accounting system.
Ability to research topics and make decisions to meet required deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred (not required): familiarity with DoS or government systems.
Must be able to possess or obtain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) certification or Secret security clearance.

Conditions
Work an 8-hour shift scheduled between 5:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Non-compensated 45-minute lunch.
Additional hours may be required with authorization from the Project Manager and DoS Management.
100% on-site position.
