Summary
DC Health (District of Columbia Department of Health) is seeking an EMS Data Analyst within the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Resilience (OEPR) to support public health and emergency preparedness initiatives. The role serves as a principal analyst for EMS-related data projects, producing analyses, dashboards, and reports to inform program planning and performance.
What you'll do
- Develop, revise, and apply database tools and methodologies; implement research protocols for data collection and analysis.
- Advise and coordinate the development, testing, and modification of complex analytical systems.
- Design and produce policy reports, summaries, and interpretive statistics for monthly, quarterly, biennial, and special reports.
- Develop, support, revise, and monitor multiple data dashboards.
- Conduct analyses of assets and monitor performance of EMS programs and related agency activities.
- Identify, define, and document data collection and reporting requirements consistent with local and federal needs.
- Collaborate on evaluation research studies to identify short- and long-range programmatic issues and recommend strategies and proposals.
- Provide technical assistance and training to staff on data processing, analysis, and management procedures; may serve as a team lead.
- Support additional projects assigned by the EMS Program Manager to meet EMS program needs.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, emergency management, or a health-related field (or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in relevant fields).
- Experience with analytical, interpretive, and evaluation activities, including database tool development and research/data protocols.
- Ability to produce analytical reports and maintain dashboards.

Conditions
- Schedule (tour of duty): Monday–Friday, 8:15am–4:45pm.
- Appointment type: Career Service – Term (13-month appointment).
- Work environment: primarily office setting; extensive fieldwork may be required during emergency situations.
- Position designation: Security Sensitive; subject to background, traffic, credit (as applicable), and drug/alcohol testing (reasonable suspicion and post-incident).
- Essential position: must report/remain at work during declared emergencies and may be required to remain at duty station or approved alternate location.
- Collective bargaining unit: AFGE 2978.
- Residency requirement applies only under specified conditions tied to annual salary thresholds (if applicable).
