Summary
LinkedIn is seeking a Strategic Finance SME (senior individual contributor) to own finance planning and forecasting capabilities as product-like solutions. The role operates at the intersection of finance, technology, and business partnership to deliver intuitive, scalable, decision-oriented planning tools and processes.
What you'll do
- Own finance planning and forecasting capabilities, ensuring strong user experience, adoption, and business outcomes.
- Define and refine end-to-end user journeys, identifying pain points and simplification opportunities.
- Translate business partner needs into actionable requirements and maintain a prioritized backlog.
- Support financial planning, forecasting, and performance management processes.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency across planning outputs by applying finance and accounting fundamentals.
- Analyze trends, risks, and opportunities; communicate insights and tradeoffs to stakeholders.
- Build relationships across Finance, Operations, and Technology teams to drive alignment and decision-making.
- Serve as hands-on SME for enterprise planning systems (e.g., Outlooksoft, SAP BPC, Hyperion, Oracle EPM).
- Support system configuration, enhancements, and ongoing operations for forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
- Execute complex analyses with a metric-driven approach; anticipate issues and recommend solutions.
- Act as go-to resource for complex planning, forecasting, and finance systems questions.
- Contribute to team culture through collaboration, knowledge sharing, feedback, and continuous learning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Analytics, Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 10 years of experience in finance, finance/accounting, FP&A, management consulting, or related work.
- Strong background in finance, accounting, and financial planning (forecasting, variance analysis, performance management).
- Hands-on experience with enterprise planning/EPM systems, including at least one of: Outlooksoft, SAP BPC, Hyperion, Oracle EPM.
- Ability to work independently, manage complex workstreams, and apply structured problem-solving.
- Preferred: experience engaging directly with business partners on planning/forecasting.
- Preferred: experience in a product-manager-like role (owning requirements, prioritization, and delivery of finance system capabilities).
- Preferred: experience supporting implementations, upgrades, or enhancements for finance planning platforms.
- Preferred: ability to translate complex financial/system concepts into clear, actionable insights.
Conditions
- Location: hybrid role performed from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days based on team business needs.
- Role based in San Francisco or New York.
- Compensation includes base pay range plus potential annual bonus, stock, and benefits.
